Cooking @ Manchester – The Master Plan (5th) + (26th)

MasterChef winner, Simon Wood would like to invite all UoM students to his free live cooking demonstration. The sessions are 50 minutes long, and involve a live cooking demonstration by Simon Wood followed by a Q&A. All attendees will receive a take home digital pack on recipes, costing, and nutrition, and a seasoning sample relevant to the recipe. 

In Conversation with Judith Butler (18th)

Hear from Philosopher and Distinguished Professor Judith Butler! In University Place. The event will feature a Conversation with Judith Butler hosted by Prof Jackie Stacey, followed by a Q+A and a book signing. Copies of Who’s Afraid of Gender, will be on sale at the event. 

Day trip to Wales: Plas Newydd and Anglesey (16th)

Join us to explore the amazing historical Plas Newydd House! 18th-century mansion nestled on the shores of the Menai Strait in North Wales. This stunning historic house, once home to the Marquess of Anglesey, boasts incredible Neo-Gothic architecture, beautifully landscaped gardens, and panoramic views of Snowdonia.

Imran Perretta: A Riot In Three Acts (All Month)

A large-scale installation using the tropes and techniques of cinema, in the form of an expansive film set and cinematic score, to consider riots and civil uprisings that have occurred in response to systemic injustice experienced by marginalised communities. This free exhibition provides a stage for the complex narratives that accompany such collective actions directed against the state, often spurred by racist policing, social deprivation, youth disenfranchisement and anti-war sentiment.

Friday Social: Mother’s day (post)card making (21st)

Come along to our weekly Friday Social in the Nest on the Ground floor of the Students Union Building, every Friday from 3pm – 5pm! Mother’s Day is on the 30th, so join us to design and decorate a postcard that you can send home!

Sip and Paint (26th)

Whether you’re an established creative or just want to try something new, join Factory International and embrace your inner artist at this popular painting evening for free!. Enjoy live music and shop from local Black owned businesses while you paint.

FKA Twigs (18th)

GRAMMY-nominated, multidisciplinary artist FKA twigs stops off in Manchester for one night only in celebration of Eusexua – her highly-anticipated third studio album.

Sports

Manchester Varsity 2025

The University of Manchester and Manchester Metropolitan University are excited to host the second annual Manchester Varsity on 31 March and 2 April 2025. Don’t miss the action-packed showdown as basketball and netball take centre stage on Monday, March 31.

South Manchester parkrun (Every Saturday)

Training for a run? Just wanting to stay active? Why not make the Saturday Manchester Park Run a staple of your training? A free, fun, and friendly weekly 5k community event. Walk, jog, run, volunteer or spectate – it’s up to you!

Paddle sports litter pick (16th)

Learn the basics of canoeing in a safe environment on the Rochdale canal. The Northern Lilly company will teach various techniques to control the craft, basic safety and also do some litter picking on the water.
