Women in Revolt! Art and Activism in the UK 1970-1990

  • This landmark exhibition at the Whitworth will feature over 80 women artists and collectives whose ideas helped fuel the women’s liberation movement during a period of significant social, economic and political change.

Manchester Museum’s International Women’s Day is a celebration of women, culture and heritage across our collections and communities. A day packed full of workshops, talks and activities that invite all to learn more about her-stories, and cultural practices both familiar and new!

Walk for Women: Manchester City Council Annual Event

Location: Mount Street outside of the Central Library, at 12pm

Celebrate IWD with colleagues and people from across Manchester; create a purple wave to celebrate IWD 2025 and share in our city’s passion for equality and creating opportunities for Manchester women.

In Conversation with Judith Butler – Who’s Afraid of Gender

Location: University Place, 18:00

The event will feature a Conversation with Judith Butler hosted by Prof Jackie Stacey, followed by a Q+A and a book signing. Copies of Who’s Afraid of Gender, will be on sale at the event. 

Women’s Fitness Launch

UoM Sport have also recently launched a new initiative for our students, ‘Women’s Fitness’, new initiative at the Armitage Sports Centre offering a brand-new women’s fitness programme is open to both members and pay as you go users.
