Upcoming Events at Manchester Museum

EarthSonic Live

EarthSonic Live takes over Manchester Museum on Saturday 22 November, giving you chance to be part of a full day of talks, workshops and unique performances sharing the stories of nature, climate, and biodiversity through music.

The daytime talks programme includes Andy Cato (Groove Armada) in conversation with Nihal Arthanayake about his project Wildfarmed, climate activist Tori Tsui, and ‘The Cloud Gardener’ Jason Williams. Workshops  include paper lantern making and shadow puppetry, biosonification (making music with plants), small garden design, and Ableton workshops using Ableton Move to make music from frog sounds!

You’ll also have chance to enjoy flash mobs with The Climate Choir, a performance from Flow artists, fresh from performing at COP30, and Mercury Prize nominated musician Sam Lee’s immersive nightingales installation running throughout the day.

And all of it is free! Click here for more info.

Stans Secret Santa

Ever seen a Tyrannosaurus rex wearing a Santa hat? No? Well, now’s your chance.

Manchester Museum’s beloved T. rex, Stan, is getting dressed up once more for the annual Stan’s Secret Santa charity appeal, collecting festive gifts for people experiencing homelessness and poverty across Manchester.

Stan’s Secret Santa runs from Tuesday 2 to Sunday 7 December and this year it’s in support of Manchester-based charities Barnabus, Mustard Tree and Wood Street Mission.

Simply head down to the Museum 10am-5pm on Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday or 10am-8pm on Wednesday to deliver donations to Stan and his team of elves. And of course, you can take a selfie with Stanta while you’re there.
