Whether it’s your first time sitting a written exam in a main venue or you’re a seasoned pro, it’s important to know the procedure so everything runs smoothly and fairly.

🧍🏽In person exams
Entry to the exam room
- All phones and electronic devices must be switched off before entry.
- Revision notes and other materials must be placed in your bag or coat.
- Coats and bags must be stored under your desk or at the back of the room.
- If there is any writing on your body, use the toilet now to wash it off.
Before the exam begins
- You are now under exam conditions. Silence must be maintained.
- Complete your attendance slip and fill out the front cover of your answer book.
- Phones and smartwatches must be turned off, placed in the plastic bag provided, and stored under your desk.
- Place your student ID card and permitted exam materials on your desk. All other items must be placed under your desk.
At the start of the exam
- Do not communicate with other students during the exam.
- Your student ID card must remain clearly visible on your desk.
- Non-transparent pencil cases must be placed on the floor. Remove any required items and place them on your desk.
- Read and follow the instructions on the front of the question paper.
- Any special instructions provided with the exam papers will be read aloud.
- Rough work must be completed in the answer book and crossed out if not to be marked. Do not remove or tear pages from your answer book.
- If you require additional materials, need to leave for the toilet, or have a query, raise your hand and wait for an invigilator.
