Celebrating the Year of the Horse

Celebrating Chinese and Lunar New Year, in Manchester and around the world.

For some of our students and colleagues, this season is marked by family reunions, shared meals and long-held traditions. For others, it may be their first time experiencing celebrations celebrations here in Manchester — an opportunity to learn, take part and connect with cultures from around the world.

At The University of Manchester, we are proud to be a global community enriched by the cultures, traditions and perspectives of our students and staff. Welcoming the new year is one of the many moments in our calendar that brings that diversity to life across campus and the city.

The Year of the Horse symbolises confidence, motivation and embracing change — a time to move boldly towards what comes next. As a University, we look forward to a year of fresh opportunities, personal growth and shared success for our entire community.
