There’s so much support available to you at The University of Manchester, but have you looked through everything that Student Support has to offer? If you’re not sure where to start, this series will spotlight some of the services that you might not know about.

Counselling and Mental Health Service Workshops

The Counselling & Mental Health Service offer a range of workshops, groups, 1-1 appointments and other resources to help you. You can view all of their upcoming events and pick the ones that are right for you.

There’s a range of sessions from one-off workshops on campus, to sessions hosted on Zoom so you can join from home. Make sure to check the details of each event and sign up to book your place.


Gender Expression Fund

The Students’ Union recently launched the Gender Expression Fund in the hope of reducing financial barriers to gender affirmation and improving the wellbeing of our students.

Eligible students can apply for up to £100 funding which can support with the purchase of gender-affirming products or paying for transport to medical and therapeutic appointments. For more details about the fund, visit the Students’ Union’s webpage

Report and Support

If you or someone you know has experienced or witnessed any form of bullying, harassment, discrimination, gender based violence, hate or micro-aggressions, or have a safeguarding concern, you can report it anonymously or get support from a trained advisor

Reminder: Report and Support is not an emergency service. If you are in immediate risk of serious harm, please call the emergency services on 999. 


Advice Service: Financial Support

On the first floor of the Students’ Union, you’ll find the Advice Service who provide advice on academic issues, student life and housing. The team offer advice and support on a range of money matters, including Student Finance, access to funding, financial worries and hardship, banking issues and government benefits. If you’re struggling with debt, they can also support you to access specialist advice.
