Manchester Research Software Community – lightning talk call

The Manchester Research Software Community are looking for lightning talk submissions for their meeting on the 17th of July. It can be on any topic relevant to the research software community as well as software citation, software policy, software as a first-class research object, Open Science, FAIR Software, and training, etc. Ideas, problems / issues, or a helpful tool or technique you’d like to share are also welcome! It’s also a great practice opportunity if you are presenting at an upcoming conference this summer / autumn. See the event website for more information.

Virtual Drop-in Help Sessions

At Research IT we know how busy researchers and PGRs are, and how talking face to face can be the easiest way to communicate a problem or a complex research idea. Join our virtual drop-in sessions so you can talk to our experts about anything research computing related e.g. research software, your own code, research data storage & much more!

Our next session is 2-3pm on the 10th of July. No appointment required – just join the chatroom at any point during the hour. If you want to find out more about the kind of issues we deal with at these sessions have a look at this great article on our website highlighting some of the more interesting problems we’ve dealt with.

Reminder – GitHub Campus Program

A reminder that Schools, departments, institutes, and labs are all eligible to join our University GitHub Enterprise account. Over 50 groups have taken advantage of the program over the last 8 months but we’d like to see more from across the University benefitting from it. Remember that you can keep your existing repositories, organisation, and GitHub account but you can access enterprise-tier resources for free!
