October 7 anniversary

Today is a sad day that marks a year since the start of the recent conflict in the Middle East.

We are deeply saddened by the ongoing violence, and we hope that peace returns to the region soon.

The conflict has also affected our community, where people of different religious and political beliefs have been impacted, and passionately expressed their views.

We know that the conflict and discussion of it on campus and in the news can be emotionally painful, please know that you are not alone, and support is available.

Support services

We provide a professional Counselling and Mental Health Service for students, a 24 hour mental health helpline and wellbeing app, a Multi Faith Chaplaincy which welcomes people of all faith and none, and other services detailed on our Student Support page

Staying safe and reporting incidents

Our free SafeZone app allows you to quickly and discreetly call for help and share your GPS location if you feel unsafe.

All forms of racism, antisemitism, Islamophobia, discrimination, and abuse have no place within our community. If you have experienced or witnessed any form of hate you can report this to the University’s Report and Support Team or the Students’ Union Advice Centre, both of which have trained advisors.

For more information, please visit The University of Manchester’s Humanitarian and conflict support page.
