Found a place you love? or still looking around but want to be prepared? Before you sign any contract, it’s a really good idea to get it checked by Manchester Student Homes (MSH).
It’s free, it’s easy, and it can save you from major headaches later.
How to get your contract checked
- In person: By appointment at the MSH Pod – email or call to make an appointment.
- By email: Send your contract to manchesterstudenthomes@manchester.ac.uk.
Key things before your check
- Read the contract yourself first
- Read through the contract yourself first
- Write down any questions you want to ask
- Check if you’re signing one group contract or individual ones
- Bring the right guarantor forms if you need them
- Make sure any promises the landlord made verbally are written down
- Check which bills are included (and which aren’t!)
- Use this quick rent calculation tip:
Weekly rent × 52 ÷ 12 = your monthly rent

Top tip: Arrive by 4:30pm for the best chance of being seen.
