We hope you had a lovely summer break. A lot has been happening on campus, so we thought we’d update you on some of the changes that have happened over the last couple of months.
Stellify has changed!
For some of you, there’s a new way to achieve your Stellify Award! From September 2026 there’s a new point-based system that gives you more choice and flexibility. If you’re graduating after 2027 you can choose to move to or start your award this way.

Main Library Blue 1 reopening this September with improvements shaped by student feedback
When you return to campus this September, you’ll find an updated Blue 1 study space in Main Library, following a summer refurbishment designed to improve accessibility, comfort and facilities for you.
The refurbished space includes:
- More height-adjustable desks to provide flexible and accessible study options
- More plug sockets at desks, making it easier to charge devices while you study
- New laptop docking stations
- New desks to improve comfort and usability
These changes are designed to create a study environment that works better for a wider range of students and study styles and were made in response to student feedback, so thank you for sharing your voice to help improve our Library!

Emergency SMS notifications now live
Over the summer, we rolled out real time SMS alerts as part of our ongoing commitment to student and colleague safety. In an emergency, SafeZone can now send SMS alerts to all students and colleagues.
Free bus travel from Manchester Victora to campus!
Thanks to our partnership with Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM), the free 41 bus is returning from Monday 3rd August for one-year, giving staff and students free travel from Manchester Victoria station to campus.

New semester, new opportunities, but unfortunately new scams too. Criminals are using increasingly convincing tactics to target students, from fake part-time jobs to fraudulent emails and messages. Make sure you know what to look out for to help you stay one step ahead of the scammers.
