Summer 2024 graduates: Your careers support explained

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Congratulations to all Summer 2024 graduates! Although your degree programme may have ended, you can still access support from the Careers Service for a further two years. We have bespoke appointments and events just for graduates, on-demand pathways, online resources, and much more available for you.

Here are the best ways to get started on your career journey as a new graduate:

1. Talk to us at graduation

The Careers Service will have a stand on the ground floor of University Place every day between 10.30am-1.30pm. Come by and have a chat with a member of our team about your next steps, and win some UoM freebies!

2. Activate your graduate CareerConnect account

After you graduate, you can continue to use CareerConnect in the same way you did as a student. You will be able to access it by using your student email until that expires.

Once this happens, all you have to do is register for a free graduate CareerConnect account. Simply click on the ‘Graduate sign in and registration’ option and register using your personal email address and alumni ID number (the same as your student ID number).

Your account should then be approved by a member of our team within 3-5 working days.

For a step-by-step guide, see this video walkthrough.

3. Book a careers meeting

As a recent graduate you will have access to one-to-one careers appointments with a member of our team.

These include CV reviews, practice interviews and careers meetings exclusively for graduates.

You can book these appointments through CareerConnect.

4. Stay in touch

Follow the Careers Service on Instagram to keep up to date with everything that’s going on. We also have a Recent Graduate Careers Network on LinkedIn, with over 2,000 UoM alumni, where we regularly post about vacancies and exciting opportunities for graduates.

Be sure to update your contact details to receive alumni communications and keep an eye on your inbox for our brand new recent graduate careers newsletter coming this autumn.
