For Neurodiversity Celebration Week (17th-21st March 2025), we would like to remind you what University support and community opportunities we have to offer for our neurodivergent students.
What is Neurodiversity?
Neurodiversity refers to the concept that neurological differences, such as autism, ADHD, dyslexia, and other cognitive variations, are natural and valuable forms of human diversity. Embracing neurodiversity means acknowledging and appreciating these differences.
I’m neurodivergent, what support can I get at the University?
As a student, you can access and register with our Disability Advisory and Support Service (DASS). DASS has a range of support that is available here and more information on how to receive this support can be found here.
On campus, you can also access our Wellbeing Rooms in the Simon Building, including a chillout bean bag room. If you find you’re struggling with your mental health, remember you can access our Counselling and Mental Health Service too.
How can I connect with other students that are also neurodivergent?
At the Students’ Union, you can join different societies that focus on bringing neurodivergent communities together such as Neurodivergent Gals & Pals and Disabled Student’s Society, which both offer different socials for you to join.
