A message from Rabbi Eli Simon, Jewish Chaplain at The University of Manchester:
Shanah Tovah!
Wishing all our Jewish students a healthy and sweet new year.
For over 3,000 years, the piercing call of the shofar—a ram’s horn—has marked Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year. This year, the festival takes place from sundown Monday, 22 September 2025 through nightfall Wednesday, 24 September 2025. The shofar’s powerful blasts will echo throughout the campus as we bring this central festival ritual directly to the University Green: Tuesday 23 September & Wednesday 24 September, 16:00.
The Multi-Faith Chaplaincy team at the University offers pastoral spiritual and religious care, and religious guidance to students during their studies.
Meet the Chaplains and find out how to get in touch via our Student Support webpage.
