Neurodiversity Celebration Week – Manchester Museum (18)
Celebrate difference and explore the talents of neurodivergent people with a full day of free, drop-in activities across the Museum. Create your own sensory board in hands-on workshops (11am–1.30pm), then enjoy a calm evening session with mood lighting, quiet spaces, bean bags and sensory crafts (5–8pm). A welcoming and relaxing event for all!
Sketch Break – Manchester Art Gallery (20)
Sketch Break is a free, volunteer-led drop-in session inviting visitors to connect through drawing and relaxed conversation inspired by the exhibition space. It’s not about being “good” at art. It’s about slowing down, noticing objects differently, and making space for reflection and creativity. From 1–3pm, it’s a calm and welcoming way to spend an afternoon in the gallery.
Manchester Film Festival – HOME Manchester (20-29)
The city’s biggest celebration of new, independent film returns in 2026, showcasing fresh voices from the UK and North West. Highlights include British debut features, the left-field mystery Misper and thriller Synthesized. Degrees of Change: the fight for women’s education at The University of Manchester – Main Library (Throughout March)
Discover the stories of the first women who studied at UoM through a special collections showcase exploring access to education and social change. Join a free women’s education history walking tour on Monday, 9 March (12–1pm) or Tuesday, 10 March (1–2pm) for a guided look at the people and places that shaped women’s learning in Manchester.

MAMMA MIA! – Palace Theatre Manchester (3-21)
The world’s sunniest musical lands in Manchester, telling a joyful story of love, friendship and identity on a Greek island paradise, all set to ABBA’s greatest hits. Sophie’s search for her father brings three surprise guests back into her mum’s life on the eve of a wedding they’ll never forget. Funny, feel-good and perfect for a big night out with friends.
Feel the heat with authentic live Cuban music as Salsa de Cuba take over Ramona’s converted MOT station for a night of dance, rhythm and community spirit. Expect joyful salsa, bachata and timba vibes from 8pm–11.45pm. Perfect for shaking off the winter and moving into spring.
Gorillaz – Co-op Live (20 and 21)
Virtual band legends Gorillaz are back in Manchester this month with their genre blending mix of alt, hip-hop and electronic sounds. The show sold fast, but there are still resale tickets up online if you missed the original release. Expect big visuals, surprise guests and a massive crowd atmosphere for one of the standout gigs of spring.
Band on the Wall: Winter Programme (Throughout March)
Manchester brings soul and jazz to one of Manchester’s most loved live music venues. It offers an intimate setting where you can see established names and exciting new talent up close. A great choice for discovering diverse music styles in a relaxed but lively atmosphere.
Student Gigs at YES Manchester (Throughout March)
A student favourite just off Oxford Road, known for half-price pizza and affordable drinks. With four floors and a buzzing atmosphere, it regularly hosts live music, DJ sets and club nights. It is perfect for casual evenings out or pre-drinks before gigs and events nearby. Affordable live shows and club nights across four floors, with plenty of under £10 tickets.
Sports and Community
Join the Purplewave – Community Run Events (4)
Be part of the Purplewave with The University of Manchester and run, walk or jog together as one big purple team. It’s all about fun, movement and community, not speed or competition. Start with the Spring Dash (4 March), offering 2.5k and 5k routes to suit all abilities, and build up to the Great Manchester 10K on Sunday 31 May. A great way to meet people, stay active and feel part of campus life..
St Patrick’s Day (17)
Manchester goes wild for St Patrick’s Day with live music, themed drinks and packed pubs across the city. Expect Irish folk bands, Guinness deals and all-day celebrations from afternoon to late night. Head to classic Irish spots like O’Neill’s Printworks for live bands and party vibes, Mulligans on Deansgate for traditional and cosy atmosphere, or The Whiskey Jar for a more modern take with DJs and late night dancing.
Arsenal vs Manchester City – Carabao Cup Final (22)
One of the biggest football fixtures of the month sees Arsenal and Manchester City battle for the EFL (Carabao) Cup at Wembley, a major trophy final and an excellent excuse to gather friends for a big‑screen pub outing.
